“Utopia” is a place that does not yet exist, but comprises almost perfect qualities. As a concept, it is often based on enforced equality and some strict social planning. Utopian settlements reflect upon this when they feature uniformity, seriality, and structure. At the same time, themed holiday villages like De Banjaard appear as very welcome breaks with tempting quick check-in options. After all, we re-create a world to recreate in – and utopia is now.
