Galerie Transit presenteert van 1 maart tot en met 31 mei 2026 de tentoonstelling Elan Vital / Levensdrang van Johan Creten. Deze negende solotentoonstelling bij Transit vormt de bekroning van een bijna veertigjarige samenwerking tussen kunstenaar en galerie en valt samen met een belangrijke transitie in de geschiedenis van Transit.
Elan Vital / Levensdrang focust op schaal: van studies en intieme ‘library versions’ tot monumentale sculpturen in de publieke ruimte, waaronder varianten van The Herring, De Dode Vlieg en een nieuwe bronzen versie van De Gier, met een uitgesproken sacraal en politiek karakter. De tentoonstelling verbindt het leven met kunstwerken in privécollecties met hun aanwezigheid in natuur en stad en toont nieuwe versies uit reeksen als Odore di Femmina en Glorie, waar het sacrale, het erotische en het lichamelijke elkaar kruisen.
De tentoonstelling biedt een uitgelezen moment om verzamelaars en publiek opnieuw rond Cretens werk te verzamelen, terwijl Galerie Transit zich heruitvindt met aandacht voor het bewaren van haar geschiedenis, de continuïteit van haar werking en haar toekomstige rol binnen het artistieke landschap.
